Aspen Medical Group – Bandana Square consolidates clinics on historic Bandana Square campus
Use of space, light and green features promotes healing environment
When patients enter the new Aspen Medical Group – Bandana Square clinic for the first time, they might have a sense of déjà vu. Although located on the same campus as the current clinic, the newly configured space takes advantage of a multitude of windows to allow natural light into the facility. The Bandana Square site is in the National Register of Historic Places.
“In design, we used to think about form and function. Now we’re also thinking about ‘feel,’” said Choy Leow, director of Allina Health design & construction. “With our clinics, we’re creating an experience and trying to make the environment a lot more hospitable, welcoming and warm. At Bandana Square, it has also been very important to stay respectful to the building’s historic character and significance as we integrate clinical needs with preservation intent.”
Recognizing that sustainable construction is important to patients and the community as a whole, the clinic was built following the Green Guide for Health Care (GGHC), which parallels the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) construction guidelines for sustainable health care design.
The new location at 1021 Bandana Blvd. E., Suite 100, replaces Aspen Medical Group’s three existing locations on the Bandana Square campus: Bandana Square (1020 Bandana Blvd. W.), Atrium mental health (1295 Bandana Blvd. N.) and Specialty Center (1021 Bandana Blvd. E.).
Services include urgent care, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, mental health, eye services, allergy, ENT and audiology, urology, podiatry, dermatology, sleep, infectious disease, endocrinology, medical imaging, laboratory services and additional specialty services.
